Activity-Based Volunteer Needs by Calendar Month & Activity

January

Solicitors for Fundraising - Approach 10 or so businesses that have been approached in prior years for Banquet donations. A packet of materials is provided to help solicitors. Need:  10 Volunteers

February

Fundraising Committee Members - This Committee starts meeting to plan all aspects of fundraising—currently the Annual Fundraising Banquet.  Some functions include actively participating in planning meetings for determining games, auctions, etc., providing leadership the night of the banquet, determining placement of items for various areas, helping with set-up and tear-down, etc.

March

Solicitation follow-up. Banquet Preparation, placement of donations; input of donations into database; pictures of donations for Facebook with write-ups, signage for banquet games, etc.

April

Banquet Set-up & Night Help (Separate list)

Fish & Fun Planning - Need Activity Chair for this event; Work with Activities & Events Chair to review event needs for signage, park and table reservations, clinic station help, specify volunteer needs

Great Beaver Paddle Fest Planning - Need Activity Chair for this event; Work with Activities & Events Chair to review event needs for signage, park and table reservations, clinic help, specify volunteer needs

Buoy Placement - Need Sub-Committee Chair; Review documents for buoy locations; Inventory buoys, blocks and chain for needs; Prep pontoon with Lowrance and verify boat is in the water day of placement.  Schedule help. Place buoys.

May

Prep for June events. Get volunteers lined up, verify signage is accurate and in good condition, etc.

June  

Fish N Fun Event Help - Clinic leaders; helpers for registration, set-up and clean-up

July

 Best Dam Fest Help -

  • Pontoon Ride Registration
  • Cardboard Boat Regatta Leadership
  • Pontoon Captains
  • Dock Help for Loading/Unloading Pontoons\

August

 Annual Meeting - Set-up & Clean-up

September

Phone calls to lapsed members e.g. need 1 volunteer/12 lapsed members; 1 hour total commitment.

October

Buoys - Removal - Prep pontoon and verify boat is in the water day of retrieval. Get help scheduled. Retrieve buoys. Contact John Neumann for use of Tahoe Park water & power for cleaning buoys.

         - Cleaning - Power wash buoys

         -  Repair - Buoys that need it

         - Inventory - Determine how many need to be replaced and submit information to the office. Also determine chains, blocks, and shackles needed.

Committee Membership-based Volunteer Needs

Fundraising - Planning committee members with ideas and willing to help/meet January – June.  Also take on a solicitation list.

Information & Education - Need for Educational Outreach and Marketing help.  Could also use help with LinkedIn, marketing, and website

Lake Management

          Aeration & Buoys:  Need sub-committee chair

          Restoration & Grants:  Need a grant writer or trainee.  Need boots on the ground people of doing grant work.

          Stocking & Habitat:  Need boots on the ground assisting with fish habitat, developing the fishery plan, permitting for fish stocking.

Membership - Need committee members to follow-up with lapsed members and planning how to engage new members.  Determine where/if to hold Summer Celebration/Membership Social. Also funnels potential volunteers to Volunteer Management Committee.

Volunteer Management- Need committee members to help match volunteers to needed opportunities and inform new members of volunteer opportunities.
